A little look back...and LOTS of hope for the future ♥

As we debate back and forth about where to send our sweet girl for school next year, and what service providers to use, I thought now would be a great time to look back and see all our "wins" this past year.

February 2013
You had your first speech assessment (it was awful)

You started Pre-K a week later - I had NO IDEA how I was going to get you to school every morning with a brand new baby, AND an older sibling who's classes started 7 minutes before yours...at another school.
But we did AND we DO...4 days a week, rain or shine!

You refused to wear boots....or mitts....or a hat....or snowpants - well that's a lie, you would wear them but first we would have to WRESTLE you into them----I was ALWAYS a sweaty mess afterwards.
And NOW you bring all your outdoor clothes to us, with communication cards telling us that you want to go outside!  No more yelling and sweating!

You still wore a pull-up to school (just in case) - but now you don't anymore
*for some reason it makes me incredibly proud that you have never had an accident at school*
You still had a hard time with the poops on the potty
(that is in fact a poop BESIDE the potty, and an entire roll of toilet paper in the potty - I cans see where she was going with this attempt.....I can totally follow her thought process on this one)

You would kick and yell for the majority of your morning at Pre-K,
but they always said "she had a great day"
You NEVER sat for circle time without some SERIOUS support and (I am assuming) a great deal of yelling.
now, there is quite a bit less.
you needed your own teacher to walk JUST YOU to and from the gym
sometimes you still need this but not as much

There was very little reasoning with you.  If Matea didn't get what Matea wanted - it was meltdown CITY!
You had a hard time with "new" situations.....you still do, but getting better and better everyday!
Yesterday we successfully (and loudly) navigated a library situations where the computers "were down" so instead of doing our regular self checkout thing we had to actually TALK to the librarian, and get her to do it - little bit of yelling, lots of anxiety, but we survived (and so did everyone else in the library)!
You were obsessed with your ipad....obsessed.
Now?  Not so much.  Although it does still accompany you to the potty every single time.
This time last year you HATED walking to Nana & Bampi's house....a whole block away (or anywhere for that matter) you always wanted to ride in the van.  We would walk with you kicking and screaming at least twice a week over there.....and now you skip almost the whole way!
Last year we wore only pants, plain colored pants, now we wear skirts and dresses, and tights and skorts!
AND fancy sequined heart shirts....last year it was plain, plain, plain.  No stripes, no polka dots!
Thank goodness we do sequins! Mama loves her some sequins ;)
Long story short....you are doing great baby girl.
And I am finally starting to understand that even when we have rough moments, they are not the definition of who we are, and your future.
You are exceptional.

My happy girl ♥

A Team Texts

Just like every other couple Bob and I communicate quite a bit via text.  Having a child "on the spectrum" I often think I should save ALOT of these texts and compile them into a book, because they are hilarious.

Today was one of those days...
Matea started going to "Little Learners" again today (very fun) and Bob went to pick her up.  I am a total control freak...so of course I texted him to see how "everything was going"....
